The Benefits of Pet Diagnostics

Our team at Animals R Special Veterinary Hospital primarily utilizes pet diagnostics to detect potential health issues early on, which can lead to more effective and less invasive treatments. Regular diagnostics can uncover underlying conditions before they become serious problems, helping to prevent future complications.

Radiographs

An X-ray (radiograph) is a noninvasive diagnostic test that aids in diagnosing and treating medical conditions. Imaging with X-rays involves exposing a part of the body to a small dose of ionizing radiation to produce pictures of the inside of the body. Our digital radiography table delivers images in seconds and offers lower radiation exposure. We work with radiologists from our local veterinary referral hospitals who can review and provide specialized consultation on your pet’s radiographs.

Ultrasound

Ultrasound is a very useful diagnostic tool that utilizes sound waves through a specialized probe to project real-time images or videos of our patient’s organs onto a display screen. This modality allows veterinarians to see within the organs and body cavities of our patients. Ultrasound aids in differentiating between normal and abnormal findings so a diagnostic plan can be developed.
We work with a radiologist/ internal medicine specialist who comes in for non-urgent scheduled ultrasounds. For emergency ultrasounds please view our emergency referral facilities.

Lab Work

Lab work plays a crucial role in diagnosing a wide range of health conditions in pets. At Animals R Special in New Albany, OH, we offer comprehensive lab work, including blood tests, urine analysis, and other screenings to assess your pet’s overall health. These tests can help identify infections, organ dysfunction, or metabolic issues that may not be immediately apparent through physical examination. Lab work is an essential complement to radiographs and ultrasound, providing valuable information that helps us develop an accurate diagnosis and create an effective treatment plan tailored to your pet’s needs.
